Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman
Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman is a prominent Imam, Community Leader and Dae’e (Preacher) based in Sydney, Australia.
He’s the founder of the United Muslims of Australia (UMA), currently the President of the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) and a founding member and Chair of the Alliance of Australian Muslims (AAM).
Sheikh Shadi is also an international speaker who frequently travels to numerous interstate and international countries in which he delivers lectures and participates in many other global Islamic conferences and major events.
Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman
Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman was born in Sydney, Australia to an Arab-Palestinian family that migrated to Australia in the late 1960’s. He completed his school certificate in Sydney before embarking on an eight year journey to seek knowledge in the Islamic world.
He initially obtained an Ijaza with Sanad (complete chain back to the Prophet S.A.W.) in complete and sound memorisation of the Qur’an in Sind, Pakistan. He then travelled to Damascus, Syria, where he spent six years studying Islam and Arabic studies at numerous Islamic institutions and was under the mentorship of many well-recognised scholars. His studies resulted in specialisation of Arabic and Comparative Fiqh (Islamic Law/Jurisprudence), as well as receiving numerous Ijazas in Fiqh, Usul Al Fiqh, Hadith and other Islamic sciences. He also holds Masters in Sharia’a Islamic Studies.
Sheikh Shadi currently lives in Sydney with his wife and two sons and is heavily involved with the Muslim community. He is the founder of the United Muslims of Australia (UMA), Australian New Muslims Association (ANMA), Sydney Islamic College, Islamic Media International and other active Dawah organisations and initiatives.
The UMA Centre is known for its vibrant and active environment and one of the largest Islamic Dawah organisations and centres in Australia. Furthermore, he has held the position as secretary of the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC), Australia’s Muslim Peak body of Imams and Muslim representation, since 2006 to 2015 and then was elected as the President of ANIC in 2015 to the present day, Sheikh Shadi is also a founding member and Chair of the Alliance of Australian Muslims (AAM), an organisation comprising of over 200 Muslim organisations from all Australian states and territories.
Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman has been recognised as one of the 500 most influential Muslims around the world alongside prominent Muslim leaders and presidents of major Muslim countries by an independent study conducted by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre.
Sheikh Shadi is committed to the Dawah and maintaining the traditional and mainstream understanding of Islam and serving the Muslim and Australian community.
Sheikh Shadi is also an international speaker who frequently travels to numerous interstate and international countries in which he delivers lectures and participates in many other global Islamic conferences and major events. Sheikh Shadi also appears on many different Islamic satellite channels such as Islam Channel UK, Huda TV, Iqra International TV, TV AlHijra, Alrahma TV and other TV and social media channels.
